Trip to So. Utah

On my birthday Dave surprised me with a trip to Southern Utah. Yay!! I was very ready for a little change of pace and very excited to go where it was warm and sunny. Also, we were leaving Jesse with Grandma and Grandpa Kocherhans, so I was excited to get to spend some one on one time with Dave. I was nervous about going because Jesse had been throwing up a couple days before we left. He seemed to be doing Ok, so we did decide to proceed with our trip. As you can see, Jesse was a little upset with us leaving him for a couple nights and tried to stowaway in our luggage.

We got as far as Payson when my sister (Chelsea) called to tell me that Jesse had just thrown up on her. We considered turning around but my Mom was convinced that they would be fine. And they were,....sort of. We did have tons of fun on our little trip. We stayed both nights at the Oasis in Mesquite where we got to Golf, swim, play tennis, and eat at the breakfast buffet. Yummy!!

We were both pretty frustrated with the way our golf games went. Although, I would have been ecstatic to have done as well as Dave. Pretty pathetic when his worst far exceeds my best. We did have riding around in the golf cart, so it wasn't a total loss. :)

It's really fun to play tennis with Dave. We're pretty evenly matched. The last set we played went well over an hour and we finally called it quits at 5 to 5 because we were too hot and wanted to go swimming. Here we are thinking we're pretty good at tennis.

I was really excited because before heading home we were going to detour to Zion (not Zions) National Park to hike the narrows. My favorite hike!! However, when we got there I was disappointed to learn that the narrows wasn't open because the river was too high. :( But we did enjoy our time in the park and were able to hike to the emerald pools. No matter how many times I've been to Zion Park, I still find my myself in awe over it's beauty and majesty.

The last stop on our trip was in Beaver on our way home. Dave has roots in Beaver and we've been privileged to spend some time there. One little gem that beaver holds is it's variety store. This store is amazing! It's packed from floor to ceiling and wall to wall with all sorts of junk..er...stuff. We unfortunately got there a little after it closed, but still had to take a picture and reminisce about our favorite variety store memories like: finding star wars and pac man party napkins from the time the original star wars movies hit theaters. Anyway, if you are ever driving past beaver, we definitely recommend stopping to see what sorts of treasures you'll find at the Beaver variety store.

*We mad it home safely to find that Jesse had only thrown up that one time and felt pretty good the rest of the weekend. However, my Mom, sister, and brother were all sick over the weekend. We're so grateful that they would sacrifice their time and health so that Dave and I could have a really great weekend together! Sorry guys.
