Sledding at Kelley's Grove

We had hoped to take a little trip to southern Utah to see some sun over President's day weekend. However, we found out that the sun wasn't going to be making appearances in Southern Utah that weekend so we decided to try to find some fun around here.

Instead, we enjoyed some sun and snow on President's day sledding at Kelley's Grove up Hobble Creek canyon. It was such a beautiful, warm, Sunny day! What more can you ask for when taking little ones sledding. Steve (Dave's brother), his wife Amy and their little girls Brooklynn and London invited us to go. London is only 10 mos. and I thought she looked so cute in her snowsuit and hat. Like a little marshmallow. We were also joined by Dave's brother Matt and his fiance (of only a couple days at the time,) Marianne. As a side note, Matt and Marianne are getting married in June and we couldn't be more thrilled to have Marianne joining our family.
At first I was a little worried that we weren't going to have any fun because as soon as I got Jesse out of the car and into his snow boots he was crying. He was extremly frustrated that he couldn't really walk in his boots. Luckily he has a short attention span and got over it quickly when we started the sledding part. He loved going down the hill and the hill was just the right size for him. The snow was perfect for packing and Jesse was able to make his first snowman...with a little help from Mom and Dad.

There was a short wall of snow at the end of the hill that was supposed to keep you from going into the trees and the river, but Dave and I noticed many sledders going as fast as they could down the hill and then over that wall. We got a little daring towards the end of our day and decided to try it ourselves...yes...Jesse was with us. I went along with it because I was convinced that we were too heavy to make it over...I was wrong. But actually, no harm done. We went up and over the wall and landed in some deep snow a ways away from the river. Even Jesse loved it.

I forgot my camera so I'm so grateful to my sister-in-law Amy for taking some pictures for us and sending them to me. I'm so happy that I have pictures of this super, fun day!
