Out in the Yard

We're so excited because our landlords let us have a little section of their yard to plant our own little garden. Over the memorial day weekend we spent our time buying vegetables and flowers, weeding, planting, and watering. Dave and I, surprisingly, really enjoyed our time putting our garden in. Who knew we could have fun working hard? Jesse actually napped during most of the work, but as you can see, woke up just in time for a wheelbarrow ride from Daddy. Jesse loves dirt, even eating it, to his mother's chagrin. Boys? ;)

Well, 2 weeks later, our garden isn't doing so hot. Not from negligence on our part, but the birds keep eating the leaves off of our cucumber, squash and zucchini plants. Any suggestions? It looks like our garden might consist of just tomatoes and peppers come harvest time.
